There is No Such Thing as Work Life Balance

Especially for the Chiropractor

You hear so much about having proper work-life balance these days.  We are all so stressed.  We are all busy.  Think about it.  When was the last time you asked someone how they were and they said anything other than busy?

Not to sound calloused but I think this mythical idea of work-life balance holds a lot of people back.  It allows us to hold back and not achieve all that we are capable of.  Before you click away, hear me out about this.

It’s All Related

We only have one life.  There is not work life, and home life, and church life, and social life.  It’s all interconnected.  Especially the church life component.  If you are one person on Sunday and a different person every other day of the week you have a problem.  (And it hurts your “Christian” witness.)

You see part of the reason I work so hard is to provide for my family, but I also work because I love what I do.  I have a passion for chiropractic and helping chiropractors so “working” is a whole lot easier.

And when I am with my family I am working to love them, show them how much I value them, and to raise my kids to become men and women after God’s heart.  I also am raising them right, hopefully, so they can make an impact on humanity and be good hard working citizens of the world.  These are two of my passions.

Life Has Seasons

The other thing that holds a lot of people back is that they can’t see past the ends of their noses.  Take me for instance.  I have a busy practice, a beautiful wife, 5 kids, am active at my church, and a growing Facebook Marketing Business.  That’s a lot of things going on.  I’m probably working 50 to 60 hours a week and have been for the past six months.  But it won’t always be this way.  There will come a day when I can stop working so much.  This is just a season in life.

Having a Purpose & Passion Makes It All Worthwhile

I’ll be honest here, if I didn’t have such a well-defined purpose in life it might be a lot harder to write this post.  It might be a lot harder to get through the seasons of life that have included long hours, seasons that included depression, and seasons that included hard struggles.  If you don’t have a purpose find one.
